Kayak Trip - 2011

What type of Kayak trip is this?

Join us on a 2 hour, 3 mile journey on the Potomac to fundraise for the Iraqi Student Project Baltimore.

Where are we kayaking?

Our Kayak-athon is sponsored by River Riders in Harper's Ferry, WV. It's 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore or DC. River Riders is providing kayakers all equipment rental, and a shuttle transportation to and from their location to the river for a substantial discount (the regular trip is $60 and we are getting a 50% discount on their rates).

Transportation to River Riders is not provided, but email us if you'd like to get a ride with someone and we'll see if we can help.

When are we going?

 Date:  Saturday August 6th, 2011
Time10AM (sign-in at 9AM)

The trip is approximately 2 hours.

You can relax and mingle afterwards at the River Riders outdoor cafe or head to historic Harper's Ferry for sightseeing!

Can I handle it?

This is a perfect trip for beginner kayakers and others with more experience.  Guides will be sent down the river with us to ensure it's a safe and fun event.

What if I have my own kayak, oar and lifejacket?

We will be using inflatable kayaks so if yours is not inflatable, you may still need to rent a kayak from River Riders (depending on your skill level).

Either way, you will still be charged by River Riders (via ISP) for shuttle transportation

(to/from Rivers Riders to the Potomac), but in that case you only pay $20 to participate!

Pay via check made out to:

Why is ISP hosting this Kayak-athon?
The Annual ISP Baltimore Kayak-athon is our chapter's largest annual fundraiser.
In 2009 and 2010, we raised an average of $4,000.  This year we hope to continue that trend or push to new heights and fundraise over $5,000.

How do I help ISP reach its goals?

We suggest each kayaker raises a minimum of $100, but the more we raise, the better!  Our budget is approximately $63,500 over the 4 years to support one Iraqi student in Baltimore.

This is an exciting and rewarding way to support the cause!
